About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Prepare and oversee detailed civil design drawings, models, and documentation for transportation projects using industry-standard CAD and BIM software (e.g., Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads).
Develop geometric layouts, grading plans, cross-sections, and construction details for roads, intersections, bridges, and transit corridors.
Coordinate design interfaces with other disciplines (structures, utilities, environmental, traffic).
Ensure designs comply with applicable Canadian transportation standards, codes, and regulations (TAC, CSA, provincial guidelines).
Contribute to project planning, cost estimation, scheduling, and quality control.
Support the preparation of tender documents, specifications, and reports.
Participate in design reviews, workshops, and client meetings.
Address design queries and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
Integrate sustainable design principles and digital technologies to optimize project outcomes.
Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and quality.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 8+ years’ experience in civil design for transportation infrastructure projects in the US
Proven track record in delivering complex highway, road, or transit projects.
Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads/MicroStation, and related design software.
Strong understanding of US design standards and practices.
Ability to mentor and supervise junior designers.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Certification as a P.Eng., or equivalent, is an asset.
