About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plans, conducts and documents complex tests on products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Designs, fabricates, builds and analyzes test systems, materials, components, software and methodologies
  • Coordinates test requirements, determines test methods and capabilities
  • Conducts system test preparations by guiding system integration, fabrication, modification, setup, checkout and teardown
  • Performs test article configuration control
  • Conducts complex tests, analyzes data and documents results; participates in test readiness reviews
  • Identifies and resolves test anomalies
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex laboratory and test-related problems
  • Coordinates test laboratory activities, maintenance and repairs, and personnel training
  • Assists government agencies, safety and hazardous materials teams in the event of emergencies
  • Assists engineers and senior technicians with efforts such as optical alignment
  • Serve as a crew member for tests, being trained in optics and lasers, telescope operator, camera operator, or atmospheric operator

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering technician, construction or facilities maintenance disciplines
  • 5+ years of experience working with powered hand tools or equipment
  • Willing and able to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends
  • 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (preferred)
  • Experience assembling lab prototypes, chassis wiring, and mechanical mounting based on schematics, drawings, and system requirements (preferred)
  • Experience operating complex computer-based analysis or control systems (preferred)
  • Experience with high power lasers (preferred)
  • Experience with optical alignment techniques (preferred)
  • Experience with electronics/electrical systems (preferred)
  • Experience with mechanical systems (preferred)
