About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, coach, and develop a team of financial analysts. Foster a growth mindset, encourage autonomous problem-solving, and build a high-performing culture.
- Strategic Business Partnering: Work closely and proactively with Chief Engineers and Vehicle Line Directors to prevent budget overruns and align operational engineering goals with corporate financial targets.
- Vehicle Program Financials (Gateways): Lead the financial planning for future vehicle programs. Prepare executive financial summaries, track target vs. actual costs, assess resource requirements, and ensure accurate integration into our enterprise portfolio management systems.
- Alliances & Partnerships: Financially steer and monitor major external partnerships (e.g., VW Alliance for Connected Vehicle Services). Manage feature costing, change requests, cost-sharing thresholds, and alignment with joint governance boards.
- Billing & Revenue Oversight: Oversee internal and external billing processes. Prepare pricing agreements for Joint Venture partners and coordinate legal entity billings and revenue recognition.
- Accounting Entry Supervision: Oversee and review the work of analysts with accounting entry responsibilities. Ensure the accuracy of journal entries, compliance with corporate accounting standards, and the timely completion of month-end closing activities.
- Process Optimization & Digitalization: Drive the digital transformation of the finance team by transitioning from manual Excel processes to a modern finance toolkit (Power BI, Alteryx, SAP S/4 HANA, and AI/LLM assistants) to massively increase efficiency and eliminate waste.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Project Controlling, Cycle Planning, or Engineering/R&D Finance.
- Experience working with Joint Venture partners, cross-functional alliances, or complex corporate billing structures is a strong advantage.
- High level of initiative and the ability to act as a strategic advisor to senior operational management.
- Strong affinity for data and digitalization; hands-on experience with modern analytical tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, SAP S/4 HANA, and AI applications) is highly preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment and meet strict global reporting deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills to translate complex financial data into precise, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken (Global Business Standard).
- Knowledge of German is a strong advantage for smooth interaction with our engineering teams and operational departments based in Germany.
