About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ford Credit Platform Engineering builds the shared services, APIs, and developer tooling that enable engineering teams across the organization to deliver value safely and quickly.
- As a Software Engineer on our Platform Engineering team, you will focus on designing and building high-quality APIs and internal developer tools that make a measurable impact on how hundreds of engineers work every day.
- This role leans toward software development. You will write production code, design APIs, and build automation while maintaining a working knowledge of cloud-native delivery, DevOps, and SRE practices. You will operate what you build, own its reliability in production, and continuously improve based on real-world usage.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong software engineering experience delivering production services/APIs (design, implementation, testing, and operations).
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Java, Go, C#, Python, TypeScript) and modern API practices.
- Experience with API design and lifecycle management (versioning, backward compatibility, pagination, error modeling).
- Strong testing discipline (unit/component/integration tests) and comfort refactoring safely.
- Working knowledge of cloud-native delivery: containers, CI/CD, and operating services in a cloud environment.
- Ability to debug across layers (application, runtime, platform) using logs/metrics/traces.
- The role requires you to be onsite four days per week in Dearborn, MI. Remote work is NOT and option.
