About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and testing the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus used by firefighting personnel
  • Conduct periodic service calls at Fire Departments
  • Perform routine inspections and functional checks of SCBA and SCBA-related equipment
  • Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on SCBA equipment
  • Conduct tests on SCBA units to verify that they meet or exceed manufacturer specifications and industry standards
  • Maintain detailed records of inspection, maintenance, and repair activities
  • Calibrate and adjust SCBA equipment for accurate readings
  • Train end-users and personnel on the proper use, care, and maintenance of SCBA equipment
  • Manage spare parts and replacement components inventory
  • Stay current with safety regulations and industry standards for SCBA equipment
  • Interact with customers and end-users to address concerns and assist with equipment-related issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in servicing and maintaining SCBA equipment is highly desirable but not required.
  • Additional technical training or certification related to SCBA equipment maintenance and repair is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards, and manufacturer-specific guidelines for SCBA equipment, preferably Scott/3M.
  • Sound computer skills are essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Previous experience servicing and maintaining HVAC equipment/systems, small engine repair, firefighting equipment, hydraulics, or cabling experience.
  • Previous experience as a mechanic or electrician.
  • Experience in servicing and maintaining HVAC equipment/systems, small engine repair, firefighting equipment, hydraulics, cabling, and vehicles is preferred.
