About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work independently and as part of a team
- Manage risk selection, plan design and pricing decisions for large complex quotes and new cases
- Manage a portfolio of major groups with high degree of complexity
- Clearly document rationale and final decisions for all quotes and renewals
- Apply and adapt underwriting methodologies / technical analysis for large complex cases
- Strategize with sales to acquire new business
- Provide consulting advice, guidance and training to less experienced underwriters
- Review / approve work (as needed) of more junior staff and provide constructive feedback
- Participate in and complete special tasks / projects as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in a related field
- A minimum of five years of group underwriting experience with a company or in a similar environment
- Expert knowledge of group insurance concepts, products and contract provisions
- Advanced proficiency of English
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
- Industry courses taken and/or designations achieved e.g. LOMA, CEBS, HIAA
