About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Manage risk selection, plan design and pricing decisions for large complex quotes and new cases
  • Manage a portfolio of major groups with high degree of complexity
  • Clearly document rationale and final decisions for all quotes and renewals
  • Apply and adapt underwriting methodologies / technical analysis for large complex cases
  • Strategize with sales to acquire new business
  • Provide consulting advice, guidance and training to less experienced underwriters
  • Review / approve work (as needed) of more junior staff and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in and complete special tasks / projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University degree in a related field
  • A minimum of five years of group underwriting experience with a company or in a similar environment
  • Expert knowledge of group insurance concepts, products and contract provisions
  • Advanced proficiency of English
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
  • Industry courses taken and/or designations achieved e.g. LOMA, CEBS, HIAA
