About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for developing/maintaining/supporting robust and consistent environmental stewardship program strategies in support of GM’s mission to deliver sustainable solutions that improve the communities in which we live and work.
- Engage with local regulatory agencies.
- Develop creative solutions to complex environmental challenges.
- Utilize technology and information to develop and maintain environmental management systems.
- Monitor environmental parameters and progress to provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Support and improve system designs that preserve the environment, integrate the latest technologies, and provide long-term environmental solutions.
- Grow to understand the plant manufacturing systems including production processes, wastewater discharges, storm water management, air emissions impacts, sewer systems, chemical usage, and waste management/recycling programs, to ensure effective decision-making and regulatory compliance.
- Interface with business partners and regulatory agencies to prepare required regulatory documentation and reports, schedule and perform compliance testing.
- Cultivate and establish trustful relationships with key stakeholders, influencers, and industry partners to optimize implementation of our Resource & Chemical Management programs.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Environmental Engineering, or a related field science.
- 5+ years’ experience in Air Permitting, Storm Water Permitting, Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements and/or related media.
- Experience in environmental engineering or related science, preferably at a manufacturing operation.
- Demonstrated ability to execute projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
- Must be willing to travel between facilities.
