About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Industrial Hygiene programs, including exposure assessment, hazard evaluation, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IH, EHS, and occupational health regulations (e.g., OSHA, ACGIH) and internal DePuy Synthes standards.
- Serve as the site and regional subject matter expert for Industrial Hygiene, providing guidance to EHS partners, operations, and leadership teams.
- Lead and support IH risk assessments related to chemicals, particulates, noise, ergonomics, and other occupational exposures.
- Develop and maintain IH monitoring programs, data analysis, and reporting to support decision – making and regulatory submissions.
- Partner cross ‑ functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and Facilities to embed IH controls into process design and change management.
- Lead audits, inspections, and incident investigations related to IH, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Coach, mentor, and develop IH and EHS team members; may directly or indirectly manage professionals and project teams.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
- Typically 8-10 years of progressive experience in Industrial Hygiene and/or Environmental, Health & Safety roles within a regulated manufacturing or life sciences environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in IH exposure assessment, monitoring methodologies, and control strategies.
- Experience leading IH programs, projects, or initiatives with measurable impact on employee health and compliance.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. occupational health regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ACGIH).
- Proven ability to influence and partner with cross ‑ functional stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- English proficiency required.
