About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the scientific and strategic leader between Therapeutic Discovery & Supply (TDS) and Discovery teams
- Enable seamless end‑to‑end decision‑making for biologics programs and technical platforms
- Identify and mitigate development risks during the discovery phase
- Ensure that structural, biophysical, expression, and developability insights are effectively integrated into CMC strategies and program planning
- Identify early opportunities to assess knowledge gaps to derisk program development
- Lead platform alignment efforts to ensure data and decisions are translatable across discovery and development
- Provide deep scientific guidance on molecule selection, engineering, developability, manufacturability, expression, and protein structure–function considerations
- Build trusted cross‑functional partnerships and influencing decision‑making across Therapeutics Discovery (TD), Preclinical Sciences & Translational Safety (PSTS), Therapeutic Areas (TAs), and TDS
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field
- A minimum of 15 years of biopharmaceutical R&D experience spanning both Discovery and Development / CMC functions
- Deep technical expertise in protein structure, developability principles, and expression considerations
- Strong understanding of end‑to‑end biologics development including scientific and operational needs of CMC
- Proven ability to shape and implement large cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and scientific storytelling skills.
- Experience supporting IND‑enabling or early clinical development efforts preferred
- Familiarity with predictive modeling, sequence/structure analysis tools, or computational developability platforms preferred
