Vehicle and Manufacturing Architect – VMA

Field Engineer

• GM Field Service Engineers (FSEs) provide on-site professional automotive, business and computer technical support to GM’s retail and wholesale communities.
• FSEs have broad responsibilities including vehicle diagnostic and repair support, providing an avenue for escalated cases, product problem resolution and territory management support for GM.
• The primary FSE objective is to diagnose and direct repairs on California customer vehicles and to reduce vehicle repurchases and warranty expense to GM.
• FSEs will also evaluate Dealership internal comeback processes, provide Dealership onsite service readiness feedback and support Techline products at GM Dealerships.
• Respond immediately to dispatch cases for vehicle concerns that may lead to “vehicle down” or potential “repurchase” situations
• Maintain a close working relationship with GM District Managers-Aftersales (DM-A), the Regional CAM and BRSM to review vehicles in repurchase jeopardy and seek creative ways to avoid buy-back.
• Utilize GM’s predictive analytics tool to get notifications of high repurchase potential vehicles in your assigned area and assist dealers quickly when one of these high-risk vehicles shows up at a dealer in your area.
• Conduct ad-hoc in-Dealership training sessions, which can include technical information on the use of Techline tools and applications, as well as, other diagnostic tools and equipment when the dealer’s deficiencies in these areas are causing buybacks.

Field Service Engineer

• Own the overall ECU system architecture: MCU selection, power architecture, memory, I/O, network interfaces, boot and update concepts, and diagnostics.
• Define and maintain system and subsystem requirements, including performance, resource budgets (CPU, RAM, flash), and latency constraints.
• Lead HW/SW partitioning and interface definitions.
• Develop and maintain communication architectures including message maps and bandwidth/load assessments.
• Define ECU-level functional safety concepts (ASIL allocation, safety mechanisms, monitoring concepts) in alignment with ISO 26262 and system safety engineering.

• Collaborate with controls, software, hardware, diagnostics, calibration, safety, and manufacturing teams to ensure the ECU design meets program cost, timing, quality, and feature objectives.
• Coordinate with suppliers on architectural topics (HW schematics, PCB layout constraints, BSW stacks, AUTOSAR configurations), ensuring compliance with internal standards.
• Own and maintain architecture documentation: block diagrams, interface control documents, safety and security concepts, configuration guidelines.

System Architect

Content Marketing Manager

• Publish the initial Product Program Content (PPC) and updates for new vehicle programs and subsequent model years
• Manage all PPC data for assigned vehicle programs in the Program Content Authoring Tool (PCAT), PPC Analyzer, and Global Docs PPC sites
• Provide periodic Build Combination data, analysis, and understanding to PETs and provide restriction and packaging recommendations to reduce build combinations
• Collaborate with key Program Execution Team (PET) members (Program Managers, Product Managers, etc.)
• Provide process/tool guidance to Program Management leaders responsible for making quality PPC decisions
